Ray J is clapping back and putting everything in his own words after Stephen A. Smith called him out for his recent comments about Beyoncé and Jay Z.
In a new video, the singer questioned why the ESPN star felt the need to weigh in at all, saying, “Why are you even talking about this? This isn’t your lane.”
He went a step further, asking aloud whether Smith had personal ties to the Carters, and why he seemed so quick to defend them in a situation “you have nothing to do with.”
Ray J began the clip by praising his sister Brandy, saying, “She’s put me in everything she’s ever been in. I’m dedicated to her.”
Then he shifted his focus to Smith, admitting, “I was shocked to see you involve yourself in my situation with the Carters because this isn’t your lane.” He added that the criticism felt personal, explaining, “You don’t know me. So how dare you say I’m in my feelings?”
The singer pushed back hard on Smith’s assessment, firing off, “You’re in your feelings, bro. Why are you expressing your feelings about it?” He closed by insisting that anything between him and Beyoncé and Jay Z is “family business” and said the way Smith addressed the situation was “disrespectful.”
