Ray J has a powerful ally in his ongoing legal clash with Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner. His mother, Sonja Norwood, has stepped forward with a sworn declaration backing her son as he asks a Los Angeles judge to dismiss the defamation lawsuit filed against him.
In court papers dated December 12, Norwood recalled a dispute that she says changed everything. She claimed that around 2008, she discovered roughly $850,000 in unauthorized credit card charges connected to Kim and several of her siblings.
“Before I filed suit, I told my son about the Kardashian siblings’ theft,” Norwood stated, adding that she ultimately sued them over the alleged charges. The matter was later settled in 2009.
Ray J said the fallout from that conflict led to a permanent rift. He told the court he “fell out” with Kim and her family and has never repaired the relationship.
Kim and Jenner sued Ray J in October, accusing him of spreading false claims online, including statements suggesting they were facing a federal investigation. Their lawsuit alleged his remarks were “blatantly false” and unsupported by any evidence.
Ray J has denied the accusations and fired back with a counterclaim tied to their infamous 2006 sex tape. He insists he did not leak it and claims Kim and Jenner misrepresented their role in its release for years.
A judge has not yet ruled.
