WATCH THE VIDEO HERE Over the weekend Razer announced a bunch of new products at its latest RazerCon event, and one of those was the Razer Freyja seat cushion. Razer initially announced this product at CES back at the beginning of the year, and while we had a chance to try it out at the show, we weren’t entirely certain at the time whether or not it would become a full-fledged product that the company was going to launch. It turns out, that Razer fully intended on launching it and has now announced that the Freyja as a product you can buy. If you’re unfamiliar with what the Razer Freyja is, it’s a haptic seat cushion that vibrates when you play games. Much like controllers, such as the DualSense, vibrate at key in-game moments, Freyja will vibrate when certain things happen thanks to Razer’s Sensa HD Haptics. This works with quite a bit of content. That being said, Freyja shines brightest when it’s being used with specific games. For the time being the Freyja cushion is only tuned for a smaller list of games. However, we expect this to be expanded as the product becomes older. As the company will have had more time to work with game studios. Razer says it’s worked with a handful of studios to integrate its Sensa HD Haptics into a variety of titles. Like Square Enix, for example. Razer worked with Square Enix to integrate its Sensa HD Haptics into the recent PC release of Final Fantasy XVI. So you’ll end up feeling parts of the game as you play. Like the intensity of an attack power-up or the earth shaking during one of the game’s many massive boss battles. The haptics are also tuned for Hogwarts Legacy, Frostpunk 2, and a handful of other games. But you won’t find any integrations for games like Space Marine 2, Black Myth: Wukong, Elden Ring, or Cyberpunk 2077 just to name a few examples. The lack of support might turn off some consumers. However, it’s important to note that the Freyja cushion still works with games that don’t have these specifically tuned integrations. They just won’t be as impactful. For example, I tried the cushion out with League of Legends and Black Myth: Wukong over the weekend. The experience was interesting, with the haptics being enabled at various times. Though I imagine things will feel a lot cooler once I boot up Final Fantasy XVI where the haptics are built into the game. The cushion also works with audio. So the haptics can and will kick in with more than just the officially supported games. For instance, it 100% works with Discord. The various Sensa HD modules would flare up anytime someone spoke in chat during my brief testing. If you’re looking to take your gaming to the next level and are interested in this cushion, you can buy it today. Razer launched the Freyja officially on September 28, and you can buy it from Razer directly for $299.99. The good news is that you don’t have to own one of Razer’s gaming chairs to use the Freyja. Razer designed it to work with really almost any PC gaming or office chair. You can also use this with a PC through the Razer HyperSense USB adapter or with Android devices. Freyja comes with Bluetooth connectivity. So if you want the haptics to work with whatever mobile game you’re playing, you just need to connect it to the Razer Nexus app on your device. The Razer Freyja haptic cushion works with a smaller list of games right now
