RCCG: Former City Of David Parish Pastor, Iluyomade Unveils New Ministry In Lagos

A former Pastor of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Idowu Iluyomade, has unveiled his new ministry months after being suspended as Parish shepherd at the City of David.

Naijaonpoint reports that a video that gained widespread attention on Monday morning showcased Iluyomade celebrating with congregants during the inaugural service of his church named ‘The Family Fellowship’ held at the Civic Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos.

The service, conducted on Sunday morning, was characterized by exuberant dancing and a festive atmosphere.

It could be recalled that Iluyomade, who previously served as the senior pastor of the City of David Parish, faced suspension from the RCCG in 2024 following an extravagant 60th birthday celebration hosted by his wife, Pastor Siju.

This event occurred shortly after the tragic passing of Herbert Wigwe, a notable church member and former CEO of Access Bank, along with his wife and son.

The timing of the celebration, which took place mere weeks after Wigwe’s death in a helicopter crash in the United States, was met with criticism, as many perceived it to be lacking in sensitivity.

Wigwe had been a vital supporter of the church prior to his premature demise.

In response to the public outcry, the RCCG Governing Council established a panel to investigate the situation.

In June 2024, both Iluyomade and his wife received a three-month suspension and were reassigned to worship at the church’s headquarters in Ebute Metta.

Their suspension attracted additional scrutiny, particularly after they were uninvited from the funeral of the Wigwe family.

However, the Iluyomades have now embarked on their own ministry to further their spiritual endeavours.

Announcing the new ministry on Instagram, Iluyomade invited the public to attend the fellowship.

He wrote, “The Family Fellowship invites you specially. Join us tomorrow at the Civic Centre for a special time in the Lord’s presence. Promises to be a great experience.”
