La Liga giants Real Madrid have stepped forward with a significant humanitarian gesture, donating €1 million to support those impacted by the recent DANA storm, which has left parts of Spain, especially the Valencian Community, reeling from widespread damage, Soccernet.football reports.

In collaboration with the Real Madrid Foundation and the Red Cross, the club is launching a large-scale fundraising campaign to provide critical relief for those affected by the storm.

The €1 million donation will initiate this effort, as Real Madrid commits to aiding numerous families facing devastating losses and urgent needs in the storm’s aftermath.

“Real Madrid will kick-start the campaign with a donation of one million euros, which will go towards helping the numerous families currently dealing with what is a critical situation, and who are in need of all our assistance and solidarity,” read a statement from the club.

In addition to Real Madrid’s donation, La Liga has joined the cause by partnering with the Red Cross, pledging to amplify the relief campaign’s message through national broadcasts during this weekend’s matches.

La Liga has also arranged for a minute’s silence before each of the 16 matches across its two divisions, offering a solemn tribute to those who have suffered due to the storm.

Reflecting the storm’s severe toll, five matches scheduled in the Valencian Community — including First Division clashes like Valencia vs. Real Madrid and Villarreal vs. Rayo Vallecano—have been postponed.

The funds collected will be managed by the Red Cross, ensuring they reach those most in need.
