The producer behind Oppenheimer is backing a brand-new comic series, Redcoat, as the next big thing in Hollywood. The comic has just entered its second year, and now it has officially been greenlit for a film adaptation, in collaboration between production company Atlas Entertainment and Ghost Machine, the company behind the comic.
Deadline first reported the deal. The Redcoat film adaptation is set to be written by Geoff Johns and Bryan Hitch, the creators of the comic.
The series follows a British soldier who inadvertently gains immortality while fighting in the American Revolution. It has been one of the breakout indie hits of the past year, and apparently Hollywood senses its franchise potential.
