Regina Daniels: Nothing wrong with women marrying older partners – Arike Gold

Following the controversial marriage between Nollywood actress Regina Daniels and Senator Ned Nwoko, actress Folorunsho Adeola, known as Arike Gold, has shared her thoughts on the growing trend of women marrying older partners.

In a recent interview, she stated, “Personally, I don’t think age should define a relationship. What matters most are shared values, maturity, mutual respect, and emotional connection. A younger man can be more responsible than an older one, and vice versa. Everyone’s journey to love and happiness is different, so it’s essential to choose a partner who brings peace and understanding, not just material comfort.”

Arike Gold also discussed the current state of relationships, noting that modern exposure and accessibility have significantly influenced how people connect.

She explained, “Yes, infidelity seems to be more common today, and I believe the primary difference is exposure and accessibility. Social media and contemporary lifestyles have made it easier for people to connect emotionally or physically outside their relationships. In the past, values and societal expectations were stronger, and privacy was more respected. However, I think the real issue lies in personal discipline and moral values, not the times we live in.”

In addition to acting, Arike Gold runs an event planning business and expressed how both careers bring her fulfillment in different ways. “Acting gives me visibility, a platform for creative expression, and fulfillment, while event planning provides stability and allows me to build something tangible. I don’t see myself quitting acting—it’s my first love—but I’ve learned to balance both industries effectively,” she noted.

She also commented on changes in Nollywood, sharing her perspective on staying relevant in an evolving industry. “I don’t think I want to change anything in Nollywood, because a lot has truly changed in the industry today. Social media has taken over, and many people now focus more on the media than the message itself. I wouldn’t say I want to change anything—I just prefer to adapt and follow today’s trends.”
