THE Media Integrity Initiative Africa (MIIA) has announced the schedule and faculty for its February 2026 Free Quarterly Online Training Programme, marking the first cohort of the new year in its ongoing commitment to strengthening ethical, innovative and responsible media practice across Africa.
The two-day training will hold on Saturday, 14 February and Saturday, 21 February 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (WAT), and will be delivered via Google Meet.

Programme Outline
Day 1 – Saturday, 14 February 2026
11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m: The Legal Limits of Journalism: Facilitator: Richard Akinnola – Veteran judiciary correspondent and newspaper editor; Executive Director, Media Law Centre.
2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m: Understanding Disinformation and Fact-Checking Skills & Tools: Facilitator: Lekan Otufodunrin — Former Political Editor at The Punch and The Nation; Executive Director, Media Career Development Network, Lagos.
Day 2 – Saturday, 21 February 2026
11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m: Media Power, Conflict-Sensitive Reporting and Responsibility: Facilitator: Lanre Arogundade – Veteran journalist; former Features Editor at Concord and Vanguard newspapers; Executive Director, International Press Centre.
2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m: Mastering the Dynamics of Celebrity Reporting: Facilitator: Michael Effiong – Former Society Editor at Fame Weekly; former Editor at Encomium Magazine; Editor and COO, Ovation International; currently Special Assistant to the Governor of Akwa Ibom State.
