A media aide to former vice-president Atiku Abubakar, Paul Ibe, has called on Mahmood Yakubu, chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to publish the comprehensive results of the 2023 presidential election.
In a post on X, Ibe said Yakubu should announce the results starting from the polling units, regardless of whether they had been “mutilated.”
His words: “I hope that before he ends his tenure as the chairman of @inecnigeria, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu will be courageous enough to announce the comprehensive results of the 2023 presidential election starting from the polling units (PU).
“It matters less if those results have been mutilated. Let’s have it warts and all. That’s the only way to permanently rest the ghost of 2023 and resolve the 2am March 01, 2023, working from the answer result as announced by Prof Go To Court Mahmood Yakubu!”
The electoral commission had in March 2023 declared Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of the presidential election, but opposition parties challenged the outcome, citing irregularities and non-transmission of results to the IReV portal.
