Amid growing security concerns across the country, the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has urged Nigerians to be extra vigilant in markets, churches, and other crowded public spaces, stressing that public alertness is critical to national safety.
In a public advisory posted Friday via its official 𝕏 handle, the DHQ advised citizens to promptly report unusual behaviour or suspicious individuals to the nearest security agency.
“Remain alert in crowded places, markets, churches, and public gatherings. Promptly report any unusual behaviour or persons to the nearest security agency. Always maintain situational awareness,” the statement read.

The military noted that early detection of suspicious activity could prevent escalation and save lives, positioning the public as the “first line of defence” in Nigeria’s internal security architecture.
The DHQ also called on citizens to cooperate with security personnel and take safety advisories seriously.
