We are coming together to celebrate the extraordinary life of Remi Kabaka, an iconic musician, master percussionist, and cultural force whose rhythms echoed across continents and generations, and a spirit that floated through the thin air undisturbed. He passed away on December 26th, 2025 in Los Angeles at the age of 84.

Remi Kabaka was more than a musician; he was a bridge between worlds. His powerful artistry and unmistakable sound contributed to some of the most influential moments in global music history. Over the years, Remi collaborated with legendary artists and bands, including Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones, Steve Winwood, Hugh Masekela, Kofi Ghanaba, Paul McCartney, Ginger Baker, Paul Simon and was a founding member of Osibisa. Remi helped to elevate African and Afro-diasporic rhythms onto the world stage, and his work resonated deeply within Rock, Jazz, Afrobeat, and World Music, inspiring musicians and listeners alike.

Yet beyond the stage and studio, Remi was known for his warm spirit, generosity, mentorship, and love of community. He uplifted others, shared knowledge freely, and carried African culture with pride and joy wherever he went. His life was one of rhythm, purpose, and connection.
