The African Democratic Congress (ADC) says Nigeria can only be reclaimed if President Bola Tinubu is voted out of office in the 2027 general election.
Bolaji Abdullahi, ADC spokesperson, made the assertion on Friday while speaking on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme.
Abdullahi said there was no possible pathway for national recovery as long as Tinubu remained in power.
“Of course, we want to get Tinubu out of power… because it is only by getting him out of power that we can take our country back,” he said.
“There is no scenario where he remains in power and we are able to get the country back. It is more or less hijacked.”
Abdullahi also criticised the conduct of those in government, accusing them of using violent and lawless rhetoric in the exercise of power.
“You see some of the behaviour of the people in government, and when people say, ‘you can smash and grab power and run with it,’ that’s the language of banditry,” he said.
The ADC spokesperson further alleged that the current administration engaged in the falsification of laws passed by the national assembly.
“A government that can forge a duly passed law—what do you call that?” he said.
“You see, some things have happened in recent times that are unprecedented in the history of Nigeria.
“This is the first time the national assembly will make a law, and then some people in government will sit and forge it.”
