The lawmaker representing Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore, and Ejigbo Federal Constituency of Osun State in the National Assembly, Rep. Bamidele Salam, has empowered artisans and farmers with items worth ₦400 million.

The distribution exercise was held on Monday at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Ede, where over 600 beneficiaries selected from across the federal constituency received equipment aimed at improving their productivity.

Items distributed included refrigerators, industrial machines, standard washing machines, grinding machines, vulcanising machines, laptops, generators, knapsack sprayers, chemicals, among others.

Speaking at the event, Rep. Salam said the empowerment programme was part of his ongoing efforts to improve the living standards of people in the constituency since assuming office.

He explained that the initiative was designed to support skilled artisans and traders who were unable to acquire essential equipment due to high costs and prevailing economic challenges.

The lawmaker disclosed that the programme was facilitated through collaboration with a Federal College of Agriculture in Ebonyi State, adding that the equipment distributed were carefully selected to meet the practical needs of beneficiaries.

He noted that many of the items, though sometimes considered basic, were costly and beyond the reach of average artisans, traders, and technicians.

Rep. Salam stated that the empowerment was funded through budgetary allocations to ensure that part of national resources directly benefited constituents. He added that previous empowerment programmes had recorded positive impacts across the constituency.

The lawmaker urged the beneficiaries to make proper use of the equipment and encouraged those yet to benefit to remain patient, assuring them of continuity.

Rep. Salam also called on residents of Ede, Egbedore, and Ejigbo Federal Constituency to mobilise support for Governor Ademola Adeleke’s second-term bid, citing the governor’s performance as an inspiration for sustaining development initiatives in the state.

In his remarks, the Timi of Edeland, HRM Oba Dr. Munirudeen Adeshola Laminisa I, described Rep. Bamidele Salam as a man of integrity who has distinguished himself among representatives produced by the federal constituency.

The monarch said Rep. Salam’s strides and impacts cut across various projects, including health initiatives, road construction, school buildings, scholarships for students, and mega empowerment programmes.

He urged the people to continue supporting the lawmaker to attract more development to the constituency.
