The lawmaker representing Ila, Boluwaduro, and Ifedayo Federal Constituency, Hon. Clement Akanni Olohunwa, has marked his second year in the National Assembly with a massive empowerment initiative.

The event, which held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at the Baptist Primary School complex, Oke Ejigbo in Ila-Orangun, attracted a large turnout of constituents from all three local government areas.

Beneficiaries received various empowerment kits, including motorcycles, sewing machines, grain milling machines, rechargeable hair clippers, and agricultural tools.

Other items distributed included Point of Sale (PoS) machines, tiling equipment, and financial support to enhance local businesses and self-sufficiency.

Olohunwa revealed that the mega empowerment programme was funded through hundreds of millions of naira in loans he personally secured from the bank.

He said he was driven by the desire to ensure his people enjoy the full dividends of democracy and expressed satisfaction with the progress achieved in just two years.

According to him, the feedback from his constituents has been fantastic, which encourages him to keep doing more for them.

The lawmaker advised all beneficiaries to put the items and funds received to proper use and become self-reliant.

He also appealed to those who are yet to benefit to be patient, assuring them that their time would come.

Olohunwa reaffirmed his commitment to his people, saying he would continue to serve them with or without holding public office.

He used the opportunity to comment on the recent appeal court ruling regarding the Osun local government crisis, describing it as a political distraction by the opposition.

He stated that there was nothing new in the judgement and maintained that the aim was to disrupt Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration.

Olohunwa declared that Governor Adeleke has earned massive support through good governance and will win the 2026 election despite obstacles.

He also urged PDP members in the constituency to shun factionalism and remain united, stressing that the party remains one and indivisible.

The Osun State PDP Chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi, praised Olohunwa for setting the pace in grassroots empowerment and quality representation.

He encouraged other elected representatives to emulate Rep. Olohunwa by delivering life-changing projects to their people.

Hon. Bisi noted that the PDP takes pride in lawmakers like Olohunwa, who bring real development to their constituencies.

He also urged constituents to pray for Olohunwa so he can do more, especially for those who have not yet benefitted from the programme.

Also speaking, the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Wale Egbedun, described Olohunwa as a selfless and committed leader.

He said the lawmaker had performed excellently during his time in the State Assembly and has continued the momentum at the federal level.

Hon. Egbedun emphasized that Olohunwa is a grassroots politician who genuinely loves his people and always puts their interests first.

He urged the people to continue to support him through prayers and encouragement, noting that more development was still coming.

Several beneficiaries lauded the initiative and commended Hon. Olohunwa for the life-changing support.

Many of them described the programme as a lifeline that would improve their livelihoods and boost the local economy.
