Former English Premier League champions Chelsea are favorites to sign Nigerian midfielder Abduljelil Kamaldeen, according to reports from Soccernet.ng.
The 16-year-old has emerged on the radar of several top European clubs in recent weeks. A member of the Flying Eagles’ squad at the recent FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile, Kamaldeen left a lasting impression during his two tournament appearances.
The youngster currently plays for the Kwara State Football Academy, and is known as a witty and nifty attacker.
He is also known for his explosive pace on the ball and clinical finishing, and that has made him one of the most sought-after prospects in the world.
In recent weeks, Kamaldeen has been linked with Premier League sides West Ham United and Brentford. There have also been a few links to Belgian giants Anderlecht. Still, Chelsea appear to be the frontrunner.
According to Footy-Africa, the London club is already in negotiations with the Kwara State Football Academy, and Kamaldeen is expected to travel to the United Kingdom shortly for a trial.
