Retirees has called on the Federal Government to implement and pay the new minimum pension to retirees from this month’s (June) pay.
They also urged the Federal Government to pay balance of retirees accumulated arrears as promised over the years to alleviate their sufferings.
Also during the protest against delayed settlement of the arrears the pensioners vowed to resume the protest if the debt is not paid soon.
They also stressed the need for the payment of the new minimum pension from this month’s (June) pay and warned Pension Transitional Arrangement (PTAD) against delay in paying monthly benefits.
A retired staff of the NTA Alhaji Ibrahim Fagge called for improved medical services for the senior citizens by restoring them to the National Health insurance scheme.
The retirees were happy on the mass participation during the protest to demonstrate their anger on non-challant attitude of PTAD concerning their welfare.
