Rihanna alluded to her highly anticipated upcoming album, known as R9 among her supporters, while making a public appearance on the weekend.

When questioned about the successor to 2016’s Anti, the artist disclosed to Extra, “It is poised to be remarkable. This accounts for its delayed release.”

She emphasized the importance of feeling a sense of growth and evolution in the music, reflecting the time invested during her hiatus.

During the unveiling of her new Fenty Beauty Soft’lit Foundation in Los Angeles, she further expressed, “I view music as a creative outlet and wish to showcase my current artistic essence.”

In response to inquiries about potential collaborations on R9, Rihanna confessed, “I am selective about collaborations… They have to serve a purpose, and I will discern when the right opportunity arises.”

Rihanna’s recent statements follow over a year since her announcement, made while promoting the Super Bowl halftime show, that the album was expected to be released in 2023.

She stated in February 2023, “Ideally, I aim for a release this year. It would be nonsensical if it does not materialize.”

Emphasizing her desire for a carefree approach to her music endeavors, she expressed, “I simply seek enjoyment in the process of creating music and visuals.”

Just ten days ago, Rihanna shared with Entertainment Tonight, “I possess material that I believe could result in hit songs.”

She described her ongoing work as “exceptional.”
