RIVCHPP Boss Hails Gov. Fubara’s Vision Of Ensuring That PLWD Are Not Treated As An Afterthought But As A Priority

The Executive Secretary of Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme (RIVCHPP), Dr. Vetty Rolegherighan has assured that the vision of Governor Siminialayi Fubara, especially the health of all Rivers Initiative, places humanity at the core of governance.

Dr. Agala, who made the assertion during a function for people living with disabilities (PLWD) in the state at Government House in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, 3rd December, 2025, said that the governor’s vision ensures PLWD are not treated as an afterthought but as a priority, enumerating why PLWD deserve focused protection, and what health for all Rivers Initiative offers PLWD, saying that the equity programme of the government is a lifeline.

At the event, the wife of the governor of the state, Lady Valerie Fubara, was conferred with the Ambassador of the Universal Health Coverage Day 2025 award by Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme (RIVCHPP).

The Executive Secretary of RIVCHPP, Dr. Vetty Agala stated that the choice of Lady Fubara for the award is borne out of her commitment to improving the health of the people of state, especially vulnerable persons and her unflinching support to the programmes and policies of the governor.

Dr. Agala used the occasion to announce that the RIVCHPP would be having the 2nd edition of the universal health coverage day celebration in the state on 12th December.

RIVCHPP’s Executive Secretary stated that the health insurance agency has lined up activities to include health walk, seminars, lectures, exhibitions at Christmas fairs, and enrolment, among others, urging Rivers residents to come out in their numbers to participate in the celebrations.

RIVCHPP’s Executive Secretary announced that the health insurance agency’s focus is to increase the universal health coverage for the state in order to bring more Rivers residents on board its platform of accessing quality healthcare services when needed without passing through financial hardship.
