THE Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has been formally registered as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) after receiving his party membership card during a courtesy visit by the Tony Okocha–led state executive at Government House, Port Harcourt.

Okocha, who represented APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda, presented the membership card to the governor today.

Speaking at the ceremony, Fubara said his decision to join the APC was driven by a desire to foster unity, strengthen political stability, and accelerate development across Rivers State.

He added that aligning with the ruling party at the federal level would help consolidate gains and enhance cooperation with President Bola Tinubu, whom he credited for supporting the state during difficult political moments.

Fubara emphasized that with Rivers State now aligned with the APC, the task ahead is to consolidate the party’s influence and prepare for a smoother political journey towards 2027.

He assured the party’s national leadership that Rivers would become a strong APC base under his watch and pledged full support for party structures across the state.

In his remarks delivered through Okocha, National Chairman Yilwatda lauded the governor’s move as patriotic and beneficial to the state. He described Fubara’s defection as the beginning of a new era of unity among political actors in Rivers State.

The event was attended by senior party leaders, including the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN), who was in the state to commission major road projects and flag off construction works around the Port Harcourt International Airport.
