Siminalayi Fubara, governor of Rivers State, has expressed confidence that the state will surmount its governance challenges.
Fubara conveyed the message through Ngozi Odu, deputy governor, on Sunday at the 2026 Holy Ghost rally of the Redeemed Christian Church of God held at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt.
He said the Rivers State Government derives strength from its faith in God, describing the rally’s theme, “The all-sufficient God”, as both timely and reassuring.
“With the Almighty God on our side, our challenges are surmountable, and our future remains hopeful,” the governor said.
Fubara said the theme underscored the belief that amid uncertainty, God remains a constant source of wisdom, strength, provision and grace.
He added that whenever human capacity reaches its limits, divine sufficiency takes over.
The governor commended the RCCG for its sustained prayers for Rivers state and Nigeria, praising the church for fostering unity, moral values and faith among citizens.
Preaching from Genesis 17:1, Enoch Adeboye, general overseer of the RCCG, described God as all-sufficient and able to meet every human need.
Adeboye said the God who created all things equally possesses the power to repair and restore them.
He noted that while human efforts, including medical interventions, may reach a dead end, there are situations where only God can intervene to reverse seemingly hopeless conditions.
Adesoji Oni, pastor in charge of the Rivers family of the RCCG, said the Port Harcourt Holy Ghost rally, which began in 2015, has evolved into an annual programme with significant impact on the state.
Oni said the rally has attracted thousands to the faith while transforming lives spiritually and physically.
He added that the church has widened its outreach beyond preaching through Christian social responsibility initiatives such as skills acquisition centres, maternity facilities, a rehabilitation centre for substance abuse, and an innovative mind hub across the state.
Rivers state has meanwhile remained embroiled in a political crisis linked to a prolonged rift between Fubara and Nyesom Wike, minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
On January 8, the Rivers House Of Assembly initiated impeachment proceedings against Fubara and his deputy.
The process began after Major Jack, leader of the assembly, read allegations of gross misconduct against the governor, endorsed by 26 lawmakers.
The political tension escalated shortly after President Bola Tinubu lifted the six-month emergency rule imposed on Rivers and following Fubara’s defection from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress.
