WATCH THE VIDEO HERE POLITICAL supporters of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, have criticized Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State for accusing the minister of being responsible for the recent explosion in Port Harcourt. The group, known as the “Rivers Leaders Forum,” expressed disappointment with the governor’s repeated allegations. Senator Olaka Wogu, the group’s leader, stated that it was unreasonable to blame those who had participated in a solidarity walk for Wike, as the explosion did not occur along their planned route. Wogu called on Governor Fubara to take responsibility for the safety of the state’s residents and properties. He also advised the governor to abide by the law in regards to imposing a state of emergency and criticized the appointment of caretaker committees for local government administration, citing conflicts with established laws. Former Chief of Staff to Wike, Emeka Woke, also questioned the involvement of the state commissioner for health in handling the explosion incident instead of the police. Other prominent figures present at the press briefing included former Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly Ikuinyi-Owaji Ibani, former member of the House of Representatives Ken Chikere, and former Secretary to the State Government Kenneth Kobani, among others.
