Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, on Tuesday declared that the performance of his administration would make it “easy” for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to secure re-election in the state.
Speaking at the commissioning of the 5.94-kilometre Ihuowo–Ihuama Ring Road in Ahoada-East Local Government Area, Governor Fubara said the new road is not just a pathway for motorists but a game-changer for security and development.
“This corridor was a death trap. Kidnapping and other crimes were rampant here. Today, criminals have no hiding place, and our people can move freely and safely,” the governor said.
Governor Fubara thanked the people of Ahoada-East for their unwavering support and vowed that his administration would continue to respond to the urgent needs of the communities. He emphasized that the government prioritizes public welfare over personal interest and seeks to be remembered for simplicity, responsiveness, and effective action.
He also expressed gratitude to his mentor, former Rivers State Accountant-General Sir Ngozi Abu, saying the road’s completion reflects the lessons and guidance that shaped his professional journey.
The governor assured that requests from HRM Eze Felix Otuwarikpo, the king of Upata Kingdom, would be addressed to ease community challenges and enhance quality of life. He urged residents to align with national development efforts and support President Tinubu’s re-election.
Governor Fubara concluded that the road project goes beyond infrastructure—it is a strategic step toward security, economic empowerment, and stronger political alignment with the Tinubu administration.
Highlighting the technical scope, Dr. Austin Ezekiel-Hart, Permanent Secretary of the Rivers State Ministry of Works, explained that the Ihuowo–Ihuama Ring Road, awarded to Darycet International Limited, features reinforced concrete drains, asphalt layers, and a stabilized sub-base designed to improve safety, connectivity, and mobility.
Ahoada-East Local Government Chairman, Hon. Solomon Abuba Ochoma, said the road signals a commitment to unlocking economic activity, reducing travel time, and connecting farmers, traders, and commuters to markets and essential services. He called for its extension through Odiabidi, Okoma One, and Okoma Two to create a continuous economic corridor.
