WATCH THE VIDEO HERE The Federal Government has deployed 10,000 Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) personnel to protect critical infrastructure and prevent pipeline vandalism in the Niger Delta. This move follows recent blasts at oil installations in Rivers State, which prompted President Bola Tinubu to declare a state of emergency in the state. NSCDC spokesperson Afolabi Babawale confirmed the deployment, stating that the operatives would collaborate with other security agencies to provide peace and security in the region. Meanwhile, opposition lawmakers and Organised Labour have protested the emergency rule, which saw Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, and state assembly members suspended. Vice Admiral Ibok-Ette Ibas (retd.) has been sworn in as the state’s sole administrator, tasked with administering the state for an initial period of six months.
