THE suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has dismissed allegations linking him to militant groups, condemning recent fake social media posts and videos as deliberate attempts to incite tension in the state.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, Fubara debunked claims that explosions had occurred at oil and gas facilities, stating that affected communities had confirmed no such incidents and that critical infrastructure remains intact.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Governor Siminalayi Fubara has no link to any militant group, does not contemplate any such association, and has no reason to encourage any criminal elements to undertake actions that threaten peace, security, or the economy,” the statement read.

Fubara reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining peace, emphasizing that governance and development can only succeed in a stable environment.

He cautioned bloggers and social media influencers against spreading false information, warning that such actions could escalate tensions in the state.

He also called on security agencies to investigate and take decisive action against those responsible for spreading misinformation.
