The Publicity Secretary of the suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sydney Gbara, has dismissed insinuation that the Governor is joining the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Naijaonpoint learnt that several supporters and loyalists of Fubara, ahead of the 2027 election, left the PDP and shifted their loyalty to the former Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, who is aspiring for the ADC presidential ticket.
A source who spoke to Daily Post on the development said, “There was a massive defection from the Governor’s camp especially in PDP to the ADC.
“With the information I got recently, the governor upon his return will also dump PDP but it is not clear yet if he will be joining the coalition or the ruling party in the country.”
However, Gbara, while addressing the defection of some of the Governor’s supporters and loyalists, said it is a matter of choice, noting that Fubara has not discussed anything about joining the coalition.
He said, “For now, the Governor has not told me or anybody that we will be joining the coalition. So we are very much in PDP.
“If the Governor comes up today and says we are joining the coalition or APC, I will follow him.
“Politics is a matter of choice, people are free to take their support to wherever they want to. But there are others who are looking up to their leaders. Whatever he does is what they do.
“Many of us have decided to be with the governor and whatever interests he shares, will be our interests too”.
