THE Rivers State Government has reiterated that the Supreme Court’s recent judgment on state allocation and local government administration did not address the defection of the 27 lawmakers.

In a statement today, the Commissioner for Information Joe Johnson clarified that the defection matter is currently before the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt, not the Supreme Court.

He emphasized that the government is awaiting a comprehensive briefing on the ruling’s implications and will thoroughly assess the situation before determining its next steps.

Johnson urged Rivers residents to remain calm and continue their daily activities while the government seeks clarity on the judgment.

He also reaffirmed the state’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and acting in the best interests of its people.

The Supreme Court, in its ruling, also barred the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and other federal agencies from releasing funds to the Rivers State Government, citing non-compliance with court orders.
