WATCH THE VIDEO HERE The Executive Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, Chijioke Ihunwo, has warned that Governor Siminalayi Fubara faces a challenge in the next elections in the state scheduled for 2027. According to Ihunwo, the upcoming battle will not only be about Fubara’s re-election but also about the future of Rivers State’s resources and soul. Speaking to the Akpor Unity Forum, a socio-political group in Obio/Akpor Local Government, Ihunwo emphasized the importance of unity and loyalty among Fubara’s supporters. “I know that some of the people currently supporting His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara will ditch us before the next general elections in 2027 maybe for some personal and selfish reasons but I urge you all to remain firm and loyal to my leader because his priority is Rivers State and her people, I plead with you to take the message of His Excellency to the nooks and crannies of Akpor kingdom,” he stated. Ihunwo also assured the group that his administration would carry them along in the council’s activities, including appointments and committee memberships aimed at enhancing development in the Local Government Area. Meanwhile, the leader of Akpor Unity Forum, Chikordi Dike, congratulated Ihunwo on his election victory, describing it as the people’s mandate. Dike expressed confidence in Ihunwo’s leadership and appreciated the council boss for appointing sons and daughters of Akpor Kingdom to his team. “You have already done a lot for our persons but like Oliver Twist, we ask for more in terms of appointments, as a group we are happy to work with you and our dear Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara and will always standing firm on his ideals,” he said.
