The Local Government Council Polls at Abua/Odual, was relatively peaceful Inspite the emergence of two Chairmanship candidates from the same Political party of the All Progressives Congress -APC in the area.
A popular engineer in the area Chief Owolobi Ofori and one Mr Angel Arugu, are both laying claim to be the Chairmanship Flag bearers of the same Political Party.
However, Chief Ofori, who is seemingly popular with overwhelming grassroot support is likely operating from a comfort zone while his rival Arugu, threating court action adding that his strength is being drawn from Emeka Beke, his supposed godfather at the State level with litigant assurances.
In an interview with newsmen at Abua/Odual, shortly after voting Owolobi Ofori said his campaign promises for massive development, massive empowerment of the people if elected is unshakable while Arugu is insisting that he knows the challenges and needs in the area and would not renege even as he prepares for the journey of redressing his unattended issues in Court.
However, the Abua/Odual APC Party Chairman, Dr. Israel Dickson, when contacted after casting his Vote at State Primary School Omelema , Ward One, said the wish and will of the people without being coercive , is Owolobi Michael-Ofori, emphasizing that he is a capacity engineer with the deliverables.
On behalf of the Abua/Odual Traditional Rulers Council, the Uwema of Omelema ,Abua, Chief Emerani Mopho, explained that their choice for “engineer Owol” as he is fondly call, is that Ofori, is versatile with better experience and exposure to partner with both State and Federal Government among other corporate institutions so as to attract development projects to the area.
