Rivers Police Declare Two Ahoada East Officials Wanted Over Attack On Council Boss

The Rivers State Police Command has declared two senior officials of Ahoada East Local Government Area wanted over their alleged roles in the violent assault on the council’s sole administrator, Goodluck Iheanachor.

Naijaonpoint reports that those declared wanted are the Chief Security Officer of the LGA, Hector Ekakita, and the Chief of Staff, Mr. Aloni Olodi.

The development was confirmed in a statement issued on Sunday by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko.

According to the statement, the duo failed to honour police invitations for questioning over the June 20th attack on Iheanachor at the council secretariat.

The police noted that Ekakita and Olodi, along with a gang of about 30 persons, allegedly invaded the administrator’s office, physically assaulted him, carted away official documents and valuables, and forced him to sign a resignation letter under duress.

“Their refusal to respond to prior public notices and formal invitations necessitated this declaration,” the statement read.

Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, has directed that the suspects be arrested immediately, warning that anyone found to be sheltering or aiding them in evading justice will face legal consequences.

Iringe-Koko said, “The Rivers State Police Command has declared the following individuals wanted for criminal conspiracy, stealing, assault occasioning harm, and attempted murder in connection with the violent attack on the Sole Administrator of Ahoada-East LGA, Hon. Goodluck Iheanachor.

“They are hereby advised, in their own interest, to report to the State Police Headquarters, Moscow Road, Port Harcourt, without further delay.”

The council boss, appointed by Rivers State’s Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), is said to be receiving medical attention following the assault.

“The Sole Administrator continues to receive medical attention due to the injuries sustained during the attack,” the police stated.

The police have also urged members of the public with relevant information on the whereabouts of the suspects to contact the Command via the State Headquarters or its dedicated hotlines.
