RIVERS: ‘We’re not deterred,’ Fubara reacts to appeal court ruling on assembly

The governor who spoke during an inspection of the reconstruction of the Zonal Hospital project in Bori Town, expressed his unwavering commitment in the face of the appellate court’s ruling on the assembly crisis.

Fubara emphasized, “I want to assure all of you and the esteemed people of Rivers State that we are undeterred. Despite the challenges, we remain steadfast in fulfilling our promises and delivering good governance.”

The Court of Appeal in Abuja had overturned a Rivers High Court order restraining Martin Amaewhule and 24 others from assuming their roles as lawmakers in the State Assembly.

The appellate court, led by Jimi Olukayode-Bada, ruled that such matters fall under the jurisdiction of the Federal High Court, not the state court.

Governor Fubara acknowledged the hurdles his administration faces but asserted that the worst is behind them, affirming his focus on advancing the development agenda for the state.

He referenced a biblical passage from Psalm 23 verse 5, highlighting the perseverance required when faced with challenges.

Regarding his campaign promises, Fubara reiterated his dedication to fulfilling them despite the obstacles.

He pointed out the lack of functional Zonal Hospitals upon assuming office and highlighted recent efforts to reconstruct and expand healthcare facilities in line with his administration’s objectives.

The governor lauded the commitment of contractors involved in the hospital reconstruction projects, noting their alignment with the administration’s vision.

He underscored the importance of quality healthcare, education, and agriculture, outlining plans to improve healthcare infrastructure in the state.

Fubara assured that the upgraded facilities would address the healthcare needs of the people and align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and policy objectives of his administration.

His tour of the hospital sites included officials such as the State Commissioner for Health, Dr Adaeze Ore, and the State Commissioner for Agriculture, Hon Victor Kii, demonstrating the government’s proactive approach to improving public services.
