FORMER NFL QB TREVONE BOYKIN DRAGS RUSSELL WILSON’S THANKSGIVING DINNER… AND SOCIAL MEDIA DRAGS HIM RIGHT BACK!
Media Take Out learned that Russell Wilson and Ciara tried to do something nice for a former friend — and it completely backfired.
Former Seahawks backup quarterback Trevone Boykin is going viral today after calling Russell Wilson’s Thanksgiving dinner “weird” … despite the fact that Russell invited him over so he wouldn’t spend the holiday alone.
Yes, you read that right.
RUSS & CIARA OPEN THEIR HOME… AND TREVONE CALLS IT “WEIRD”
According to Trevone, he went on the House of Playmakers podcast and casually threw shade at the Wilsons’ family dinner.
“Russell Wilson, I went to his house for Thanksgiving. The weirdest feeling…” he said, before explaining why.
Apparently, the thing that confused him most was that Ciara brought her family — but Russell didn’t bring his.
Trevone said:
“If I got as much money as Russell Wilson, my whole family would talk about me so bad if I didn’t fly everybody out for Thanksgiving… His mama wasn’t there. Sisters weren’t there… just weird to me.”
Mind you, Ciara’s family lives in Atlanta and Russell’s family does not. But okay.
A LITTLE CONTEXT ON TREVONE…
Trevone Boykin has had a long fall from NFL grace.
He signed with the Seahawks in 2016 and spent two seasons backing up Russ before being cut in 2018 following a domestic violence arrest. Authorities said he broke his then-girlfriend’s jaw — an incident caught on surveillance video.
He later served three years in prison and now plays football in Mexico.
So… this holiday invite was actually a big gesture from Russell, considering their history.
SOCIAL MEDIA WAS NOT HAVING IT
After clips surfaced, folks on X (formerly Twitter) immediately let Boykin know he was out of pocket.
One user said:
“He invited you into his home and you get on a mic to talk negative? Corny.”
Another added:
“Most people spend Thanksgiving with whoever they’re close to. Family isn’t always local.”
And a third person didn’t hold back:
“Boykin is weird for this. That man fed you. Clown behavior for clout.”
THE VERDICT
Russell and Ciara tried to extend kindness — and Trevone turned it into content.
Fans say Russ didn’t deserve the shade, and honestly… they might be right.
Boykin should probably be thankful anyone — especially an NFL legend he once backed up — offered him a seat at the table at all.
