Rwandan gospel artist Gogo dies suddenly in Uganda

In Uganda

The gospel music community is mourning the sudden death of Rwandan artist Gloriose Musabyimana, popularly known as Gogo Gloriose. She passed away on the night of September 3, 2025, in Kampala at the age of 36.

Her media manager, Bikem wa Yesu, confirmed the news the following morning, expressing his grief in a social media post.

Gogo had travelled to Uganda for a series of events, including a revival in Mbarara and business meetings in Kampala.

Shortly after arriving in the capital, she fell ill due to complications believed to be related to a known heart condition.

Despite being rushed to Kyegera Doctors Centre, she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Gogo’s life story is one of resilience, having risen from humble beginnings after losing both parents and working as a street vendor.

She later became a beloved gospel singer, inspiring fans across Rwanda and Uganda. Her last social media post—a meme reading “Goodbye, I going”—has since taken on a haunting new meaning.
