This decision was made during a regional summit held today, attended by SADC leaders, including Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa, who chaired the meeting. A statement released after the summit confirmed that all SADC troops currently stationed in the DRC will be withdrawn and sent back to their respective countries. Malawi, which has been contributing troops under SADC, will also follow this directive, marking the end of its military involvement in the DRC under the regional bloc’s mission.
