Super Eagles and Real Sociedad striker Sadiq Umar has been given a huge boost by the club coach after playing just 14 minutes of league football this season, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 28-year-old has struggled for playing time this season, but was given a chance to redeem himself in their Copa Del Rey clash against FC Negreira.
Sadiq could’ve found the back of the net at least three times, but his lack of sharpness saw him squander the chances presented to him.

Sergio Francisco promises Sadiq more minutes
Despite a performance that was below par, the Spanish gaffer wasn’t displeased with the Nigerian striker because of his lack of fitness.
“We have taken the opportunity to give minutes to those players who perhaps have fewer minutes and are competing, and I am happy with the game and the individual level,” the Sociedad coach said in quotes revealed by Estadio Deportivo.
“On a collective level, they are not used to playing together, and it was noticed. Maximum involvement, and we achieved classification.

Quizzed specifically about Sadiq’s involvement moving forward, the 40-year-old said:
“I would say that he has not been at the same level. In the stretch of the match in which we were better, he was involved a lot.
“I would not differentiate in terms of fitness levels, but he is contributing to us in training, and we are happy with his day-to-day activities.
“I’m sure he’ll have more involvement from now on.”

Real Sociedad take on Athletic Club in La Liga on Saturday. The Txuri-Urdin have had a poor start this season, accruing just nine points from their opening ten games.
