Sam Asghari was once married to Britney Spears, but the aspiring actor says that his marriage to the pop star hurt his career instead of helping it.
“I can’t sit here and lie and say, ‘It wasn’t good for me,”” he told Page Six Radio, “When you’re in such a public relationship … it sort of gave me that platform for who I am.”
Britney and Sam first met on the set of her 2016 ‘Slumber Party’ video, where he played her love interest. They married in 2022, years after the star was freed from her 13-year conservatorship, and eventually called it quits in August 2023, after just 14 months.
By May 2024, their divorce was finalized.
The fitness model claims that when he would audition, he was instantly dismissed because of his connection.
“Did it make me, you know, have to work harder to prove myself? Absolutely,” he added.
“‘Oh, and he’s associated with a pop star, which is also cheesy as well.’ Or ‘can we see him as a character?’ There was that line as well,” he claimed people questioned at the time.
