Samsung is reportedly gearing up to launch a new foldable device dubbed the ‘Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra,’ as per a report by Android Headlines.
This would be Samsung’s first “Ultra” Fold model, following the trend they began with the Galaxy S20 series.
Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra
According to Android Headlines, the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra bears the model number SM-F958N. They think it’s the “Fold 6 Ultra” because Samsung usually ends the model number with “8” for Ultra phones.
Previous Ultra models followed the same pattern, like the S23 Ultra (SM-S918x) and S24 Ultra (SM-S928x). Unlike past foldable devices, this one has a model number ending in “8,” indicating it’s an “Ultra” version.
With the internal model number “Q6A,” the exact launch date remains unknown, but it’s expected to debut at the Galaxy Unpacked event in July.
However, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra might only hit shelves in Korea, hinted by the model number SM-F958N, which typically denotes the Korean market. But the standard Galaxy Z Fold 6 (SM-F956N) will also be available there.
Samsung may unveil two models in Fold category: the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra, but details on their differences are scarce. The Z Fold 6 Ultra is confirmed to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, marking Samsung’s first “Ultra” device in the Fold series.
The report noted that different model numbers could suggest a wider release, but this seems unlikely for now.
Samsung’s Next Galaxy Unpacked Event
As for Samsung’s next Galaxy Unpacked event, SamMobile reports it’s scheduled for July 10, possibly in Paris, given the city’s hosting of the 2024 Summer Olympics, of which Samsung is a major sponsor.
Official invites for the event are expected to be sent out in late May or early June, although the date might be subject to change.
At the event, Samsung is likely to unveil its first smart ring, the Galaxy Ring, along with the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Z Fold 6 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip 6. Additionally, we can anticipate the launch of the Galaxy Watch 7 and at least one new pair of wireless earbuds.
