Samuel Chukwueze is being lined up for a surprise return to Spain, with Real Sociedad now in the race to sign the Super Eagles forward from AC Milan, Footynaija.com reports.

The 26-year-old Nigerian winger is on the transfer list this summer, and Real Sociedad have identified him as one of their key attacking targets for the new season.

Club sources confirm that director of football Erik Bretos is closely monitoring the player’s situation and could push for a deal before the window closes.

Chukwueze joined AC Milan from Villarreal in 2023, where he had built a strong reputation in La Liga for his explosive pace, dribbling skills, and match-winning moments. He made over 200 appearances for Villarreal, scored 37 goals, and lifted the UEFA Europa League trophy with them in 2021.

At Milan, his time has been frustrating. Injuries and limited opportunities saw him struggle under different managers. Milan are now prepared to sell.

Real Sociedad believe Chukwueze could thrive again in Spanish football and offer the kind of direct, unpredictable play that suits their current rebuild. As revealed by El Gol Digital, the Basque club, now under the sporting direction of Erik Bretos, is keeping a close watch on the winger’s availability and may soon make an official approach.

Chukwueze still has a contract with Milan that runs until 2028, but the club have made it clear they will consider offers for the Super Eagles forward. Real Sociedad are reportedly weighing two options: a permanent move or a loan with a mandatory purchase clause.
