Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reportedly reinstated his Senior Special Assistant on Print Media, Wale Ajetunmobi.

Naijaonpoint understands that Ajetunmobi’s reinstatement comes barely two months after he was suspended following allegations of misrepresenting facts concerning the 2020 #EndSARS protests.

His suspension was announced in a statement by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile.

The controversy stemmed from Ajetunmobi’s remarks on his personal X handle, which reportedly contradicted the official narrative surrounding the protests.

The statement condemned ..., labelling it a misrepresentation of facts and emphasising the importance of accuracy and professionalism in public communications.

Akosile noted that the Lagos State Government had disassociated itself from ... made by Ajetunmobi.

However, a source privy to the matter who spoke with Sahara Reporters on Tuesday said members of the governor’s inner circle lobbied for Ajetunmobi’s return.

The source stated that Ajetunmobi was asked to lie low and be cautious of his online posts.

The source said, “Ajetunmobi is back in the office. They asked him to lay low and be cautious about what he posts online. Some of the governor’s kitchen cabinet members advocated for his reinstatement because they like him.”

Efforts by the publication to get a reaction from Akosile on the alleged reinstatement failed as he did not give any response to questions regarding Ajetunmobi’s reported secret recall.
