Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Monday swore in Abdul-Ganiyu, son of the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudasiru Obasa, as the Chairman of Agege Local Government Area.
Naijaonpoint reports that Abdul-Ganiyu, who had been acting in the capacity for some time, was formally sworn in to assume full responsibility for the administration of the council.
The new chairman took over following the resignation of the former council chairman, Tunde Azeez, who had been on medical leave since the inauguration of the new local government administration.
Azeez’s resignation letter was read by the Leader of the House, Adeshina Haruna, during proceedings.
In the letter, Azeez cited persistent health challenges, which he said had significantly affected his ability to discharge his duties effectively, as the reason for stepping down.
At the swearing-in ceremony, Governor Sanwo-Olu urged Abdul-Ganiyu to focus on grassroots development and ensure that his administration aligns with the policies and vision of the Lagos State Government.
The governor charged the new chairman to deliver dividends of democracy to residents of Agege and to justify the confidence reposed in him.
