Saweetie says she is constantly being underrated in the music industry, and she says it’s all because of her looks.
“I saw it on TikTok. They were like they talk about pretty privilege but don’t talk about pretty punishment,” Saweetie told Hot 97.
“There been so many times, I’ve been just counted out you know. And I know that it’s behind animosity. I know it’s because of a hidden agenda. But it makes me work harder.”
The Bay Area native first caught the internet’s attention with her viral 2017 hit “ICY GRL,” and went on to drop chart-topping singles like “My Type” and “Best Friend.” She’s also landed several fashion partnerships and even launched her own McDonald’s meal, but she still has not managed to be successful and some of her other rap peers.
Fans did not agree with her take and reacted in the comments sections:
“You can’t rap babe…hope this helps,” one viewer wrote.
“Sweetie you are beautiful but your music is terrible baby,” another viewer wrote, while a third added, “I’m gonna hold your hand when I say this, we just wanna see growth in your bars. That’s all, Sweetie.”
