Scary Movie 6 Confirms More Major OG Trilogy Actors' Returns Alongside New Cast Members

As the horror comedy parody franchise finally returns, Scary Movie 6‘s latest casting update confirms more stars of the original trilogy are back. With a 13-year wait after the franchise’s fifth entry in 2013, Scary Movie 6 is set to release in theaters on June 12, 2026.

Now confirmed for the cast of the franchise’s long-awaited sequel, per Deadline, are returning actors Cheri Oteri and Chris Elliott. Oteri starred in the original Scary Movie (2000) as Gail Hailstorm, a parody of Courteney Cox’s Scream character Gale Weathers, while Chris Elliott portrayed the caretaker Hanson in Scary Movie 2 (2001) and a different character, Ezekiel, in Scary Movie 4 (2006).

It’s also been revealed that newcomers for the 2026 Paramount-distributed movie’s cast include Damon Wayans Jr. (New Girl), Kim Wayans (In Living Color), and Heidi Gardner (Saturday Night Live). Currently, character details for Oteri, Elliott, and the new batch of Scary Movie 6 cast members are under wraps.

Oteri and Elliott are the latest in a growing slate of returning franchise actors set to appear in Miramax’s upcoming reboot film. They notably join previously announced returning Scary Movie stars Anna Faris and Regina Hall, who appeared as Cindy Campbell and Brenda Meeks, respectively, in all entries but Scary Movie 5. Also among the established returning cast are Marlon and Shawn Wayans as Shorty and Ray, with the brother duo simultaneously writing and producing the film alongside Keenan Ivory Wayans.

Meanwhile, Damon Wayans Jr., Kim Wayans, and Heidi Gardner join Scary Movie 6‘s other confirmed newcomers Olivia Rose Keegan, Gregg Wayans, Savannah Lee Nassif, Sydney Park, Cameron Scott Roberts, Ruby Snowber, and Benny Zielke. With production still underway for the R-rated horror movie franchise’s next sequel, it’s expected that more casting announcements will follow ahead of filming’s official wrap.

With story details for Scary Movie 6 still largely a mystery, it’s unclear whether Oteri will again play Gail Hailstorm or Chris Elliott will return as Hanson, Ezekiel, or play a new character. However, Marlon Wayans has given some hints as to what the plot will entail by revealing that Scary Movie 6 may feature spoofs of recent horror films like the Scream reboot sequels, I Know What You Did Last Summer‘s legacy sequel, Longlegs, Heretic, Get Out, and Sinners.

Directed by A Haunted House and A Haunted House 2‘s Michael Tiddes, Scary Movie 6 will also go up against some tough box office competition in June 2026 with Masters of the Universe, an untitled Steven Spielberg film, Toy Story 5, and Supergirl slated to release that month. However, the franchise is no stranger to a summer release window for its big hits, which Paramount and Miramax hope to similarly work in Scary Movie 6‘s favor.
