Schneider powers AI-driven data centres with UPS

Global leader in digital transformation of energy management and automation, Schneider Electric, has introduced a new high-density uninterruptible power supply designed to support the growing energy demands of artificial intelligence and data centres. In a statement on Monday, the company announced the launch of Galaxy VXL, a compact and scalable UPS system that ensures reliable power cloud computing, and large-scale data processing.

Schneider said the new system delivers higher efficiency while reducing energy costs and environmental impact.

With AI adoption increasing, data centres are consuming more power than ever before. Schneider explained that Galaxy VXL is designed to maximise uptime, helping operators maintain stable operations without frequent disruptions.

The UPS can power up to 1.25 megawatts in a single unit and scale up to five megawatts when multiple units are combined, making it suitable for hyperscale and colocation data centres.

The company highlighted the system’s energy efficiency, stating that it reduces power losses and lowers carbon emissions. It also features advanced security measures to protect against cyber threats, as well as remote monitoring capabilities that allow operators to track performance in real time.

Schneider Electric said the introduction of Galaxy VXL aligns with its commitment to sustainable and efficient energy solutions, particularly as businesses increasingly rely on AI and cloud services.

“Our new Galaxy VXL UPS combines a compact, innovative, and highly efficient design with enhanced safety features, providing world-leading power protection for a wide range of AI, data centre, and industrial applications.

“This ensures the high-density workloads of the future are supported by unparalleled levels of reliability.”

To meet growing demand for AI systems, Schneider Electric said it has expanded manufacturing and production capacity across multiple global factories.

The firm expects annual production capacity for the Galaxy VXL UPS to exceed 9,000 units in 2025. Additionally, the system will be available at Schneider Electric’s Sant Boi factory in Barcelona, where it will be integrated into the company’s prefabricated, modular high-compute data centre solutions.
