Jeff Stelling has been serenaded by the Tartan Army as excitement grows from the travelling Scotland fans ahead of their Euro 2024 opener.

Scottish supporters have gathered in their masses in Munich ahead of Friday night’s clash against hosts Germany – live on talkSPORT.

And ahead of the game, a few lucky Scotland fans have been treated to a surprise encounter with one of our very own hosts.

talkSPORT Breakfast presenter Stelling delighted many by making an appearance in Munich as he greeted fans outside of a crowded pub.

Rows of Scotland supporters dressed in an array of kilts and navy blue shirts all cheered as the beloved host posed alongside them for photos with a huge smile on his face.

And he was greeted by the perfect chant as the Tartan Army gave a flavour of just how loud they will be in supporting their team at this tournament.

“There’s only one Jeff Stelling!” they sang, showing their appreciation of the broadcasting legend.

They went on: “One Jeff Stelling, there’s only one Jeff Stelling, one Jeff Stelling!”

In even better news for Scotland fans, they have Stelling’s backing when it comes to making a successful run in this competition.

Scotland’s first Euro 2024 game against Germany will be followed by clashed against Switzerland and Hungary.

While Steve Clarke’s side will be hoping to secure progression to the knockout stages by finishing top two in their group, they will be further boosted by the knowledge that the four best third-place finishers will also progress to the last 16.

It means their chances of making the knockout stages of a major tournament for the first time ever should be increased.

Giving his Euro 2024 predictions ahead of the tournament, Stelling told talkSPORT that Scotland might just surprise a few out in Germany.

“Is Coisty listening to this?” he laughed, teasing his co-presenter and former Scottish international Ally McCoist, before going on to give his thoughts.

“I think that they will get through the group stage,” he said. “And I think that’s an achievement for them as well – don’t mean to be condescending.

“Tough opening game against Germany but I expect them to go through maybe at the expense of Hungary.”
