Cyriel Dessers has won the Scottish Premiership Golden Boot after finishing the 2024–25 season as the league’s top scorer with 18 goals, Footynaija.com reports.

The Rangers striker struck in the second minute of Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Hibernian, moving two goals clear of Dundee’s Simon Murray and Celtic’s Daizen Maeda, who both ended the campaign on 16 goals.

Murray had the final chance to catch Dessers on Sunday but drew a blank in Dundee’s 2-0 win over St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park.

Dessers’ blistering form in the closing stages of the season — scoring in five straight matches — proved decisive in the race for the Golden Boot.

The Nigerian forward becomes the first Rangers player since Alfredo Morelos to claim the award and succeeds last year’s winner, Hearts’ Lawrence Shankland.

It’s the third major top scorer accolade of Dessers’ career, following his 2019–20 Eredivisie title with Heracles Almelo and UEFA Europa Conference League Golden Boot in 2021–22.

Throughout the season, Dessers showed his sharp finishing by scoring against ten different Premiership clubs, including Celtic, Aberdeen, Hearts, and Dundee United.

The former Feyenoord forward will look to be a part of Nigeria’s squad to the Unity Cup later this month.
