Security operatives on Thursday arrested Omoyele Sowore, former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) and convener of the #FreeNnamdiKanu movement, shortly after he met with the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Eyewitnesses said Sowore was apprehended by Police officers moments after leaving the courtroom, where he had gone to express solidarity with Kanu, who appeared for the continuation of his trial.

His arrest was also confirmed by rights activist and lawyer, Deji Adeyanju.

Footage obtained shows the activist being surrounded by heavily armed officers before being escorted into a black waiting vehicle within the court premises.
