‘See Them As National Projects’ – Presidency Continues To Hit Kwankwaso Over Allegation Of Nepotism Against Tinubu Govt

Bola Tinubu and Kwankwaso

The presidency has again debunked claims by former Kano State Governor and 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, that the administration of President Bola Tinubu is diverting scarce resources to develop road projects in southern Nigeria, where he hails from, at the expense of northern Nigeria.

The Senior Special Adviser to the President on Print Media, Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, stated that there is no truth to claims that the current administration is ignoring the North and focusing solely on the South.

The presidential aide called on Kwankwaso to see the projects being implemented as national projects, rather than for the benefit of any particular region.

Abdulaziz, who spoke on Monday as a guest on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief programme, added that projects are sited based on their economic benefits.

He also rejected claims that the Tinubu government has abandoned important projects in the North, including the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Road.

“We should look at things as national projects and not as northern or southern projects, which is a major problem.

“The most important thing is what value the projects bring and not because they are sited in the north or the south. What are the economic benefits of these roads?

“Of course, there is the need for justice, there is the need for fairness, which I am sure nobody could accuse this government of being unfair to the north or being unfair to the south because projects are being sited equally,” the presidential aide stated.

Naijaonpoint reports that the latest response from the presidency follows an earlier allegation by Kwankwaso that Tinubu is focusing developmental efforts in the southern region where he comes from.

The presidency had, in response, listed some of the projects being executed by the current government in the North. The Minister of Works, David Umahi, also urged the NNPP chieftain to stop misleading the people, while presidential media aides, Daniel Bwala and Sunday Dare, have also debunked the claims by Kwankwaso, accusing the former Kano Governor of only attempting to remain relevant on the political landscape.
