Sen Jibrin Blames Russia-Ukraine, Israel-Palestine Wars For High Cost Of Food Items

The Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, has said the high cost of food items in Nigeria was caused by global conflicts.

Naijaonpoint reports that Senator Jibrin said President Bola Tinubu was doing enough to address the country’s challenges, but the effects of Russia-Ukraine and Israel-Palestine wars were affecting cost of food prices.

The Deputy Senate President stated this on Thursday, as he joined the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Umar Ganduje, to welcome the Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, and his supporters from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to his party, at Old Parade Ground, Area 10, Abuja.

He urged Nigerians to be patient with the President. He called for support for the President’s policies, assuring that he would transform the country.

“Let’s continue to work together and fully support Mr. President. We’ve been saying it before Mr. President came on board, this country was having several challenges—problems on all fronts: infrastructure, security, energy, and what have you.

“He came with the desire, with the will, to change the narrative and the trend. But then, the global conflicts – Russia -Ukraine and Israel–Palestine came up which gave rise to an increase in the price of commodities and services worldwide.

“Of course, Nigeria cannot be isolated. We are also facing the same problems in this country. But still, he has been unrelenting, working hard to change the trajectory and bring prosperity to our country. Rome was not built in a day.

“You cannot expect a building that has been destroyed to be rebuilt in one day. And so we need to be patient with him. He’s working in the best manner possible to bring prosperity to our nation and turn our country into the land of El Dorado.

“I want to assure you that we are part of the team and that we know the efforts the President is putting in to make sure that he brings prosperity to our nation. Let’s support him,” he said.

APC Will Win FCT Landslide

Senator Jibrin lauded Ganduje for his effort in attracting opposition members into APC. He further commended Maikalangu for joining the ruling party.

He stressed that APC would win all elective posts in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

“The National Chairman and other NWC members have been doing a wonderful job getting people into our party. Thousands have joined recently. We are proud of you and the good work you are doing for the APC.

“Today, we are witnessing another landmark event to receive a great chairman of the AMAC, one of the FCT councils, into the APC. And not only him but all the people in his local council. This will change the narrative in FCT.

“By the grace of God, we will win a landslide any time an election is conducted. We are going to make FCT proud, APC proud, our President happy, and Nigerians happy. So, let’s work together,” he stated.
