THE Senate Committee on Federal Character and Inter-Governmental Affairs has approved President Bola Tinubu’s nominees to serve in the Federal Character Commission (FCC), endorsing Ayo Omidiran as Executive Chairman alongside several newly appointed commissioners.
The confirmation followed a screening session held at the National Assembly. Committee chairman, Senator Onyesoh Alwell of Rivers East, praised President Tinubu for selecting what he described as highly qualified individuals to take up roles in the agency.
In line with legislative tradition, nominees who had previously served as lawmakers were granted the customary “take a bow and go” privilege.
Omidiran, a former member of the 8th House of Representatives, was among those excused without extended questioning after a successful appearance before the panel.
The committee’s recommendations will now proceed to the full Senate, where lawmakers are expected to make a final decision on the nominees’ confirmation during the next plenary session.
