Senator Hussaini Debunks Jigawa Governorship Bid, Affirms Loyalty To APC

Senator Babangida Hussaini e1765632180404

The Senator representing Jigawa State North West, Babangida Hussaini, has dismissed claims that he is preparing to contest the governorship of the state in the 2027 general election.

The lawmaker described the reports as baseless, false and deliberately misleading, saying they were aimed at creating unnecessary political tension within the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This was contained in a statement personally signed by the senator and made available to journalists in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital, on Friday, December 12, 2025.

Adamu said the allegations were mischievous and calculated to sow discord within the ruling party, warning against what he described as a growing trend of unfounded political narratives being circulated on radio platforms.

According to him, “These claims are entirely false and are clearly intended to create unnecessary tension, division and mischief within our great party, the APC.”

The senator stressed that such narratives were capable of misleading the public and undermining party unity.

The senator also emphasised that he and the Governor of Jigawa State, Malam Umar Namadi, remain committed members of the APC, working together in unity and mutual respect for the progress of the state.

He noted that there was no rivalry or hidden political agenda between him and the governor, insisting that both leaders were focused on delivering dividends of democracy to the people of Jigawa.

Adamu’s reaction followed recent comments aired on a radio programme by one Magaji Dogo, who alleged that the senator was planning to contest the governorship seat in the next election cycle.

The statement further alleged that the individual appeared in a campaign-style T-shirt and cap bearing the images of both Senator Adamu and Governor Namadi, in what the lawmaker described as a deliberate attempt to falsely suggest that the claim originated from him.

The senator reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and to the Jigawa State Government under Governor Namadi.

He said his current focus remained on supporting the leadership of the APC and contributing meaningfully to the continued socio-economic development of Jigawa State.

Adamu called on the leadership of the APC to take appropriate measures to curb the spread of misleading narratives capable of undermining party discipline and cohesion.

He urged party members and the general public to disregard the rumours, stressing the need for collective responsibility in strengthening the APC and advancing the development of Jigawa State and Nigeria at large.
