Less than 24 hours after losing her bid to replace her late husband in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Senator representing Anambra North Senatorial Zone, Tony Nwoye, has appointed Mrs. Justina Azuka as one of his aides.

Naijaonpoint reports that Azuka, who contested under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) platform, was announced as Senior Special Adviser on Special Duties to the federal lawmaker.

Recall that Mrs. Azuka had vied for the Onitsha North 1 State Constituency seat, previously held by her husband, Justice Azuka, before he was kidnapped and eventually killed.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday declared the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Mimih Ifeoma Azikiwe, as the winner of the by-election. Mrs. Azuka emerged as the runner-up.

She was fielded as ADC’s candidate to enable her to fend for her three children left behind by her late husband.

In a photo circulating online, Senator Nwoye was seen handing the widow her appointment letter. The senator when contacted by Daily Post confirmed the appointment.

According to Daily Post, the position of the late lawmaker’s wife comes with a basic salary of ₦200,000, which many observers have described as a lifeline to cushion the effect of her husband’s death.
